What’s the story behind your nickname?

The story behind my nickname is a history. I’m the first child of my parents so they were very excited at the time I was born & picking a perfect name for me was the hardest. It was taking forever to choose a nickname for me.

my first name was chosen by my grandfather and it is a historic name as well as it is an Islamic name.It is considered as historic but modern name and choosing it was pretty straightforward.

But when they started looking for my nickname it became very hard for them because they were so many different options but they were not sure which one was perfect so finally my uncle who is my mother’s brother picked a name for me.

The time my parents and my extended family was looking for a nickname for me, my father was living abroad and he could not find a name that everyone & himself he could love. My mom had a name in her mind for which she could not find a good meaning.

My nickname became Moushumi chosen by my uncle. Then people started to call me Mou as the short form of the original name and getting older I loved only my short name. My parents always preferred me calling Mou and I became Mou forever.

Few of my relatives still call me with my big original nickname but that’s just because I barely meet them and they have no idea that long back I have become only Mou.

For some reason I better prefer my first name & family name which is Sadia Amin & I am comfortable people calling me that. But yes I am Mou & that’s the whole story 😊
